@washa.nyongolo: The man on the ground being brutalized by an Auburn, Washington police officer was going through a mental health crises as he was reported walking inn and out of heavy traffic. 10/28/26 The officers brutal misconduct was filmed while he punched the man in the head repeatedly as the arrestee gave the officer no signs of a threat towards him nor attacking the officer. Bystanders can be heard yelling for the police officer to stop, as the officer continues to show no restraint for his brutal misconduct. Striking an individual repeatedly is cited as a failure of basic de-escalation principles. Repeated strikes to the head carry a high risk of severe injury or trauma. Reform advocates argue that using heavy physical force against a non-violent or disoriented individual is inherently disproportionate, unconstitutional, and contrary to the duty to protect vulnerable citizens. Armed law enforcement officers are often the wrong primary responders for behavioral health emergencies. Without specialized crisis intervention training, standard police tactics can turn a medical emergency into a violent confrontation.
