Imagine working long hours caring for patients, helping keep emergency rooms running, and then waiting months for the money you’ve earned. 💔 That’s the situation facing a group of travel nurses in rural Saskatchewan, who say they are owed thousands of dollars by a private staffing agency called EZ Care. According to CBC News, nurses Shalu and Esther Nagaga say the agency has failed to pay them for months and stopped responding to their attempts to make contact. CBC also reviewed bank statements supporting claims that payments were missing. The nurses say they have bills, rent, families and other expenses to cover. They even temporarily stopped working after realizing they were not being paid, creating further staffing pressure in hospitals already relying on travel nurses. The Saskatchewan Health Authority says it is aware of payroll issues but cannot intervene in contractual matters between the agency and its contractors. The nurses have since returned to work through a different agency and are still hoping to recover the money they earned. But this raises a much bigger question: Who is responsible when the people helping keep our hospitals running are left fighting to get paid?
