@nepalin24hr: A sudden glacial lake outburst in Bhutan's Gasa district on October 29 triggered powerful flash floods along the Mo Chhu River, affecting Zomlingthang in Punakha. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported despite damage to agricultural areas and infrastructure. Floodwaters damaged a newly installed solar-powered irrigation system in Dochhukha-Dzomlingthang-Ritsa, while debris blocked a section of the Punakha-Gasa Highway. The flooding also damaged infrastructure near Gasa Tshachu, with authorities continuing to assess the destruction. The incident highlights the dangers posed by glacial lake outburst floods across the Himalayan region, including Bhutan and Nepal. #Bhutan #Punakha #FlashFlood #GlacialLake #Himalayas Do follow @nepalinlast24hr.
