@im.groo0_srl: Defne was in her dad’s arms when the interview began. Semih Güler, a 31-year-old defender for Kayserispor, had just beaten Fatih Karagümrük 1-0 in Matchday 27 of Turkey’s Süper Lig. Smiling, he shared that his daughter, who has Down syndrome, had been to two of the team’s matches, against Antalyaspor and Karagümrük, and they had won both. “She brought us luck,” he said. But what left everyone speechless came next. Since March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, Güler took the opportunity in front of the cameras to say: “They may have an extra chromosome, but they’re more beautiful people than we are.” He called for all children with Down syndrome to receive early education and for us to take care of our children, because “they’re everything to us.” The response came from the stands: at the next match, fans unfurled a banner in support of Defne. Güler thanked them. ❤️
