@steven: “Here’s the problem with normalising lies...” Military historian Dr Sarah Paine argues that Donald Trump’s repeated falsehoods could have serious consequences for America, drawing parallels with the Soviet Union’s collapse. She also compares Trump’s ambitions towards Canada and Greenland with the territorial ambitions of Russia and China, warning that normalising these actions could have lasting consequences for the world.
When a system is built on lies, the truth becomes its greatest threat. And the courage to question what we’re told becomes the first step toward freedom.

I sort of feel like the world would better though if it were divided into several territories. Practically endless resources for the people of each territory, and a simple treaty of peace and general respect for planet earth between the territories. Much better than endless wars, economic collapses, and border changes every decade

When you build a system on lies, you have to remember the previous lies.

Interesting take on lies. Ussr collapsed. China (now) executing on good data, incredibly strong. Both communist, different outcomes. On the capitalist side you can look at two peer countries at the beginning of the 20th century. Canada and Argentina. Good data is important.
