The Joint Typhoon Warning Center placed the center about 35 miles east of Agrihan, with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph and gusts to 175 mph, the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane, and a central pressure of 943 mb. In-Fa has weakened slightly from super typhoon strength and is now moving northwest at about 20 mph, away from the islands. Typhoon warnings were in effect for Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan, where destructive winds were expected. Farther south, Saipan and Tinian were under a high surf warning with waves of 12 to 18 feet, and Guam and Rota under a high surf advisory, with a high risk of rip currents on all four main islands.
