It’s imperative to understand Brazil is a very mystical culture. Manifestation practices, rituals (we’d call them simpatias) and small miracles are very ingrained in our culture. The tactic of imagining a future and saying it already happened worked here because culturally we do that even colloquially (let’s say you apply for a job and you tell your friends about it. A very common response your friends might give is “congratulations! You already got the job”. We barely even think about it). It was an important tactic to use during Lula’s campaign, but it might not catch on as easy in other countries.

I’ll add here too: As a brazilian, I must say: the majority of relevant artists (Brazilian, Latin, worldwide) were campaining pro Lula too, there was a lot of influencers engaging fighting fake news and clarifying to the population so we could send material to change votes, there has been a huge corruption scandal which Flavio Bolsonaro was found and with other previous scandals, people started to massively spread the info to the population too and posted on relevant YouTube, instagram, tiktok channels and also, we fortunetly had (but sadly) had the engagement of elderly (80+) specially on north and north east of Brazil (very relevant regions that Lula has been working to dimish extreme poverty). This idea of social contagion is fascinating 💡… I’ve long been of the opinion that Marx downplaying the role that race, gender, and other social crisis points play in disrupting class consciousness and solidarity was a blind spot that radically overlooked how the owner class manufactured division in a way that simple economic need could never quell. American racism was designed to keep slave populations under control and became the defining feature of American capitalism, but it is at its core a social contagion. We just have to be the antidote, the counter-contagion… this is actually so much easier. We don’t have to push theory, we need to catch vibes and the theory will work itself in the process.

I don’t know, this is sounding a lot like 48 laws of power. I’m not one that appeals to the ideology of “if you can’t beat them”. I don’t believe in competing with what I believe is just low frequency thinking. centralised systems require to much manipulation sacrifice that’s why I always resort to elevating consciousness and encouraging sovereignty. However, I praise the people that can invest in this muddy moral work and keep their soul somewhere, somehow.
