James Yang :
Indonesia continues to blame Singapore for its forest fires, haze, economic problems, stock crashes ,blackouts, riots and corruption, while foreign investors are withdrawing in large numbers.
Instead of blaming others, Indonesia should address its own governance problems, tackle corruption, enforce laws and create a transparent, stable environment to attract investors.
Rejecting help from Singapore and Malaysia will not solve the annual forest fires and toxic haze.
Ultimately, ordinary Indonesians suffer the health consequences and 5,260 published August and September lost their lives in 2026?
Protecting people's lives should come before political blame.
Indonesia also exports raw palm oil to major markets like India and China, yet blames Singapore for refining and re-exporting it. Why not invest in its own refineries and develop a higher-value palm oil industry?
Why Indonesia don't sell theirs products themselves ? Why must Indonesia give others countries and Singapore to re-sell for them and make for money ?
For over a decade, Indonesia has struggled to identify and hold companies responsible for forest fires accountable. If Singapore succeeds in gathering evidence and taking legal action where Indonesia has repeatedly failed, it would be deeply embarrassing for the Indonesian government.
Indonesia should take responsibility for problems on its own soil rather than shifting blame. It should also address its own under-invoicing trade practices and government corruption instead of expecting Singapore to solve these problems for it.
