1. Slow down until you can talk. Most people gas out because they start too fast. Use the talk test: if you can't speak a full sentence, you're going too hard. Slow to a pace where you can, then build from there. Your lungs and legs adapt over weeks, not days. 2. Belly breathe. Shallow chest breaths only use the top of your lungs. Breathe deep so your stomach expands on the inhale. This pulls air into the lower lungs, where most of the oxygen exchange happens. Practice it while walking first so it becomes automatic. 3. Match your breath to your steps. Try inhaling for 3 steps and exhaling for 2. This keeps your breathing steady and spreads the impact of each footstrike more evenly. On easy runs, go 3 in, 3 out. On harder efforts, tighten it to 2 in, 1 out. 4. Use your nose and mouth together. Nose-only breathing can't keep up once your effort rises. Breathe in through both, and out through your mouth. More air in means less panic and a calmer pace. 5. Relax your upper body. Tight shoulders, a clenched jaw, and fists all burn oxygen and restrict your breathing. Every few minutes, drop your shoulders, shake out your hands, and unclench your face. You'll feel your breathing open up right away. #Fitness #runningtiktok
