Throughout his career, Ayatollah al-Sadr revolutionized modern Islamic thought by providing contemporary alternatives to Western economic and philosophical ideologies. His seminal works include Falsafatuna (Our Philosophy), a critique of Marxism and Capitalism that established Islamic philosophy as a coherent framework for knowledge; Iqtisaduna (Our Economics), a landmark treatise laying the theoretical foundation for modern Islamic banking and economic justice; and The Logical Foundations of Induction, an original epistemological contribution uniting formal logic with modern probability theory. Beyond his academic achievements, he co-founded the Islamic Dawa Party, actively championed Shia-Sunni unity, and vehemently opposed the oppressive Ba'athist regime. Due to his unwavering stance against political tyranny, Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his sister, the prominent author and activist Amina al-Sadr (Bint al-Huda), were arrested and executed by Saddam Hussein's regime on April 9, 1980.
