Javits was reportedly shot in the stomach at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday near Crotona Park while walking to school. Despite his injuries, the teenager managed to run for about one block before collapsing. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died. Police are searching for three teenage boys believed to have been connected to the killing. Surveillance footage reportedly showed individuals fleeing the scene dressed in black clothing and wearing blue surgical masks. No arrests have been made. His father, Thomas Frimpong, believes bullying may have contributed to the tragedy. He revealed that school officials had contacted him just three days earlier to report that two students had been bullying his son. The students were reportedly suspended for one week. Thomas had brought Javits from Ghana to the United States about a year ago, hoping to give him a better education and a brighter future.
