@japdmedia26: TOKYO, JAPAN 🇯🇵 — A livestream prank involving Twitch streamer Lacy has sparked controversy after viewers used a restaurant's QR code to place unauthorized food orders during his visit to Japan. On October 28, American streamer Nicholas "Nick" Fosco, popularly known as Lacy, was dining with his girlfriend, TikTok influencer Darla Claire, at Zauo Shibuya in Tokyo. During the livestream, the restaurant's table-specific QR ordering code accidentally appeared on camera. Viewers reportedly scanned it remotely and began placing food and drink orders without the couple's permission. When restaurant staff approached with additional orders, Lacy became confused before realizing what had happened. "Ohh, they might've saw the QR," he said. Lacy initially claimed the prank had resulted in a bill of approximately 1.6 million Japanese yen, or nearly $12,000. He also expressed frustration with viewers, saying: "I've never seen anything like that," "That was, like, weird, chat. I'm really upset right now." However, the restaurant later disputed his account of the payment. According to a statement attributed to Zauo Shibuya and shared online, staff reviewed the orders with the customers and charged only for items actually consumed. "We carefully reviewed each order with the customer and charged them only for the items they actually consumed." The restaurant reportedly acknowledged receiving approximately 1.96 million yen in unauthorized orders. Some dishes had already been prepared and were discarded. On October 30, Lacy addressed the controversy on X, admitting that he misunderstood the situation because of a language barrier. He explained: "Due to the language barrier, I genuinely thought I was responsible for a $12,000 bill initially." He later discovered that he was only responsible for additional food that had already been prepared, rather than the entire amount. Lacy also apologized for not correcting his earlier statements sooner, explaining that he never intended to damage the restaurant's reputation. The exact amount he ultimately paid has not been publicly disclosed. The incident has raised questions about livestream privacy, online pranks and the impact viewers' actions can have on innocent restaurant employees. What do you think? Should viewers face consequences for placing unauthorized orders just to prank a livestreamer? #TokyoJapan #LacyNicholasFosco #DarlaClaire #ZauoShibuya #japd
