We get a lot of LS swaps in the shop with the cheap fabricated aluminum intake manifolds. They generally are a poor choice for a daily driver…especially in a heavy truck that needs all the low end torque that it can get. A stock truck intake manifold is actually a much better choice (Gen 4 truck intake preferably.). I know they aren’t as aesthetically pleasing, but they work nicely. One of our good customers brought his square body GMC to us for an upgrade. It has a mildly cammed 5.3L, along with the cheap fabricated intake manifold. It made a peak of 272 hp, but only 250 ft lbs of torque. We bolted on a FAST LSXHR intake manifold and picked up 16 hp and 18 ft lbs of torque on the first pull. After a few tweaks on the A/F, injector timing tables and adding 1 degree of ignition timing, it was a solid 28 hp and 28 ft lbs better than the cheap intake. It cost around $650 more than the previous intake, but resulted in a much better performing truck…and looks awesome as well!#FAST LSXHR #BIGDOGTUNING@Zach_Moore_FSA @JD Coats @DerekLSX
