@maryannesmithvand: 🎃 A Little Toms River Halloween History! 🎃 Ever wonder why we trick-or-treat on October 30 instead of Halloween? The famous Toms River Halloween Parade began in 1919, organized by Toms River Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. Now 107 years later, it remains one of the largest Halloween parades in the country! ⛪ The Church Connection: A longstanding agreement with local churches established that the parade would not be held on Sundays, out of respect for religious observances. 🍬 Why October 30? As the parade grew, trick-or-treating was moved to October 30 so families could enjoy both traditions without having to choose between collecting candy and watching the parade! 🚒 What started as a small community celebration has become a beloved Ocean County tradition, bringing generations of families together. 🎃 2026 Toms River Halloween Parade 📅 Saturday, October 31, 2026 🕖 7:00 PM 📍 Main Street, Downtown Toms River, NJ October 30 for the candy, October 31 for the parade! 🍬👻 Just another reason Toms River is such a special place to call home! ❤️ #halloween #newjersey #oceancountynj #halloweenparade #trickortreat
