When burning pile of papers u will notice those compacted ones don't burn down except u scatter the pages. same effect with the Bible, the pages are thin and so compacted that oxygen don't get through hence only a small outer portion of it will burn.

This happened in my town except it was a metal cross on a fence. I lost my home with 150 other people and farmers lost their cattle, but the Christians were posting about the cross and how that was a sign from God.
