The very best engineers I've worked with had real world experience and they'll listen to their techs. You may have a degree, but I've got over 35 years of making an original design better.

They don’t even need to bring us anything. We are happy that you want your engineering to work because it will make our lives easier in the long run. We know it will take time. It also shows your dedication and care.

I work with a very smart CAD modeler, he asks me all the time what tolerances and corner radii and it pays off for production parts! She is correct!!

When someone in upper management celebrates your successes, you should give credit and kudos to EVERYONE who had input and impact on the process. Those people will be on your "team" from then on.

You can graduate with an engineering degree, but you should never stop learning.

Knowing where or how to find the answer and being persistent in getting to the bottom of things is a very good trait. Some have been in the trade 30 years and ‘don’t know’, because they’re not interested.

I run a press brake. Specifically a Safan darley. It’s an incredible machine. It’s the best machine I’ve ever used. We also have the finest tooling I’ve ever seen. I’m 66 and I don’t hate my job yet. I like when engineers have questions. I don’t know everything. I assume nobody else does either. But do me a favor. Don’t wait until the last minute. Have a good day.

kinda seems to me like engineering school is just as much about teaching you to learn fast and semi-independently as it is about teaching us actual engineering
