it’s a scam because they don’t just want the amount they lend you back, it’s 20% of the property value at sale so they take a massive chunk of equity. you’re best off getting a loan to pay help to buy off and get rid entirely.

I avoid everything like this. Always dressed up as help but it gets you into more debt. Just buy cheaper if you want on the ladder.

Help to buy only applies if your house is under £250k or £450k in London. £200k is a 1 bedroom flat. Help to buy is going to end up being a huge waste of time & money for a lot of people as house prices continue to rise.

The crucial thing I did right was take the help to buy loan very seriously. Every time my mortgage got paid, I put more away to pay off the loan before interest started
