@drgreghealth: Here is whether you should be taking creatine as a woman in your 60s. I've been a functional medicine doctor for more than 25 years, and my answer is yes, with two conditions most people skip right past. As estrogen declines, so does your natural creatine turnover, and that is happening at the exact same time you are losing muscle mass by default. Condition one: the research on creatine and aging women shows it helps preserve and build muscle, but only alongside actual resistance training. You cannot take a creatine supplement, sit on the couch, and expect the same result. Condition two: three to five grams of plain creatine monohydrate every day, not just on workout days. There is a second benefit that surprises people. Creatine has real evidence behind it for mood and mental fatigue, particularly in women, including research showing improved depressive symptoms when paired with standard care. This is not a bodybuilding supplement anymore. It is a healthy aging supplement that happens to also build muscle. If you have any kidney concerns, that is a conversation with your doctor first, not a reason to assume it is dangerous for everybody. This is not about chasing a trend. It is about giving your muscle and your mood one more tool to work with as you age. Has anyone ever brought creatine up with you as part of aging well? Find the root. Heal the whole.

Female took it for months, drank water and lifted weights. Bloated after two or three days and never stopped! Gained 11 pounds and the “water weight“ never went away. My results are more typical than you think!
