Dr. Stephen Kolakowski :
Sylvo, thank you for bringing attention to something so important. ❤️🙏
As a vascular surgeon, I’ve spent years caring for patients and have come to appreciate that some of the most serious struggles people face aren’t always visible.
Someone can appear successful, smile, go to work, and continue caring for everyone around them while quietly struggling themselves.
I think one of the most important things we can do is pay attention when someone we care about begins withdrawing, loses interest in things they once enjoyed, or seems different from their usual self.
And sometimes asking, “Are you really okay?” isn’t enough. We need to create the space to listen without judgment, take their concerns seriously, and help them find support when they need it.
If someone expresses that they no longer want to live, it’s important to ask directly about suicide and help them access immediate support.
Thank you for reminding us that compassion, connection, and simply being present for someone can matter more than we realize. ❤️🌱
