@sellwithshima: A beautiful ocean view with a powerful story behind it. 🌊 📍 Bruce’s Beach Manhattan Beach, CA In 1912, Willa and Charles Bruce purchased beachfront property in Manhattan Beach and created a welcoming seaside resort for Black families during a time when racial segregation limited access to California’s beaches. Despite their success, the city took their property through eminent domain in the 1920s, displacing the Bruce family and other Black property owners. Today, Bruce’s Beach serves as a reminder of the South Bay’s history, the importance of remembering the past, and the lasting impact of a family’s legacy. A meaningful place to visit, reflect, and learn a little more about the community we call home. 🤍 Source: Los Angeles County – History of Bruce’s Beach ##manhattan##manhattanbeach##socal##southbay##beach
