I cried after reading this because it hit me that this has become my reality. Back then, I used to dream of giving my mom the Noche Buena she deserved, and now that I think about it, it’s been two years since I last spent New Year’s Eve with her because I’ve been working just to make sure we still have a Noche Buena to celebrate. The old version of me would probably be proud, yet a little heartbroken at the same time. HAHAHA. I miss my mom, and I wish I could spend these moments with her, but life comes with responsibilities, bills to pay, and priorities that sometimes require sacrifices. I guess this is what growing up looks like. Becoming the person I once dreamed of being, while quietly missing the moments I wish I could still have.
