@lwar510: #ai #fyp #energy #expensive #end This is probably as far as the traditional data center model will get because the returns aren’t returning. Follow me to stay in the loop There are some alternatives for using the tech I’ll discuss in another video
Maybe AI should be free after 8PM and on the weekends.

Crypto, NFTs, AI—my opinion is simple: if it’s not tangible, it won’t last. To me, it all looks like a cash grab: build the hype, take everyone’s money, and disappear before it falls apart.

Like the railroads in the 1890’s failure was a contraction. Many players to a few. The result will be similar to US rail. lol, just thought of that last part. Our AI will run at 70 mph, whilst China’s AI becomes a high speed rocket.

My theory: our society/economy is based on scarcity of knowledge. Your compensation is based on your knowledge/ability to do things others can’t. AI removes the scarcity of knowledge making your/my skill set obsolete. The result is no need to acquire knowledge or employing individuals. This saves money, right? Here’s the twist/plan: Get people/companies dependent on (low cost) AI models then comes the rug pull. Gradually increase the cost of the model such that it becomes the prior cost of a human employee. The AI models effectively replace a company’s largest expense — employee wages. And, there is no going back because AI possesses all of the knowledge. At that point, we’ve come full circle. You can’t replace AI because humans don’t have the knowledge. Oh, and AI will still demand year over year wage increases

Data centres aren’t solely for AI, nor is AI solely the free and $20pm chatbots the public are getting familiar with. Different products and pricing will evolve, eg Anthropic’s metered usage. Subscription chatbots are less 10% of Anthropic revenue , and generates around $34bn per gigawatt year in revenue while spending $8.5bn per GW-year on customer-serving compute. The mismatch of infrastructure becoming available before AI demand / usage is a risk being taken by utility companies, but i don’t think demand for AI will collapse before utility companies and data centres start auctioning hardware.

As a small business owner the new AI rollout with google has literally made my business unfindable almost on the google search. So I know they are loosing money as a big corp. because people aren’t scrolling anymore just stopping at the AI overview 😩😩

How do we ensure we’re not on the hook for bailing them out when they fail? Anthropic is a circle jerk of debt.

One major factor being missed is that personal computers are becoming powerful enough to run models which are more than capable enough for everyday tasks. Not everyone needs access to a model that can solve millenia math problems which is what data centers will run. I predict only corporations and goverments will use data center models and all individuales will be able to run models locally

c.ai recently filed for bankruptcy, they do not have the resources to meet consumer demand. they have lost billions in revenue even with high traffic. my prediction is it will start with smaller companies, then we will see a similar trend in bigger companies.

They may try to monetize AI by filling it with advertising which is what the.com bubble did to all the new startups. Back then the idea was if we can’t make money on our actual business will make money on advertising because we have so many eyeballs. When everybody had the goal of making money through advertising, then there was no competitive advantage.

Yes but airbnb, uber etc used this exact same model prices are only going to go up, also my counter arguments to your points are they will ban chinese models just like they did, to Xiamoi etc and these chinese models are distilling american models it’s a lot cheaper to distill than to train your own model

yeah and that's exactly why I started using THEIR models to build my own compute cluster locally, it just HAPPENS to be able to plug into the cloud and MCP/openAI. I built the engine first locally. it's a geometry informed compute cluster.
