@dakota.news.now: Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation after highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, was detected in a Northwest Iowa county. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, along with several federal officials, confirmed that H5N1 HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) was detected in a commercial turkey flock in Sac County. This is Iowa’s eighth case detected in 2026. With this latest case, the governor’s proclamation allows state resources and other agencies to assist with tracking and monitoring the disease, while also providing support for rapid detection, containment, disposal and disinfection. #iowa #birdfluupdate
