Fun fact! Most Kpop groups who start out didn't make their own music at first. Being Trainees, they are mainly taught how to perform (singing, rapping, & dancing) and then they just learn the producing from someone else. But it also depends on what company you come from. If it's a big company, they have designated producers and writers that do most of the work alongside the members. But if you debut in a smaller company, they don't have the money or resources to properly debut a group, so the group members are more involved bc it's just what they had. KQ (ATZ company) was a mid / smaller company than the "big 3" companies. But the thing is 2016-2018, Kpop was rising fast in popularity at this time, so that also helped Ateez become popular and able to produce more of their own work. There were a very small handful of smaller and poorer companies who had no choice but to hire rappers or producers to write their own music (Like Bighit and BTS in 2010-2013). Basically think Poor/small companies = debut group more contribution. Where rich/big companies = debut groups less contribution bc more people were hired to help/work. (I'm not saying those groups who had a big company didn't have it hard or whatnot, all idol groups go through a hard time bc it's how the industry works, but hopefully you get what I mean lol)

I remember coming across Ateez for the first time because Pirate King was actually an ad before a video I was watching. I stayed for the whole thing and I've been following them since!
