This was literally me 😂 “Just tell me what it takes and I will do it lol.” But jokes aside, I was indeed ready to do whatever it took just to land a nursing job in the U.S. At 21 years old, I packed my bags, left everything behind, and moved from the Philippines to chase this opportunity, in search of something better. Back then, I was earning ₱16,000 (~$265) a month while carrying the responsibility of helping my family. My dad had to retire early. My mom was a housewife. I had to become the breadwinner at an early age. All I had was one goal - to work in the U.S. as a nurse. Unfortunately, the process was long and hard. It took me 3 long years to finally get here. I was lucky enough to be sponsored through the EB-3 pathway while I was still outside the U.S. - working full-time in the UK. But I held on because I knew what was waiting on the other side. And I’ll never forget that moment — when I finally got my green card. “I am now a permanent resident in the US” That feeling of not having to worry about visa renewals… That kind of stability? It changes everything. But when I started working in Florida, I realized something… A lot of healthcare workers here in the U.S. are still living in temporary status. Working hard. Doing everything right. But still unsure about their future. And honestly, I can only imagine how heavy that feels. So if you know someone in the U.S. who is currently on: • DACA • Asylum pending (with EAD) • Or any type of work authorization Send this to them! Comment FLINT — and I’ll send a link to help you move toward permanent residency too. Because if you’re taking care of patients in this country, you deserve a future here too. #nurses #nursinglife #flint #immigration #greencard
