The problem isn’t that he moved on. Good for him. The problem is that he’s with his girlfriend while trying to get closer to Lizzie, knowing her mental state and how much that could hurt her. I’m not even going to get into what happened or the whole supposed “cheating” situation. I’ll just say that now CW wants to sell us this narrative of “the man who can’t move on,” but I remember how quickly he moved on, and I spent five previous books happily reading about him being with his girlfriend and saying she was his first everything. But now suddenly he’s “longing” for Lizzie? Okaaay then.

This! Everybody keeps looking from Lizzie’s POV.. like yes Pierce took some advantage at that moment. But in Hugh’s eyes it looks like his gf cheated on him.. the night before she literally told him she would get sex from someone else and was in the street trying to push up on Pierce. And the aftermath she continued going back to Pierce. So yes Hugh’s feelings are valid.
