@mollypelletier.rd: Cut coffee for your reflux and ready to bring it back? Here's how I'd do it. You may not need to give it up for good. A 2026 review of 40 studies found only a small link between coffee and GERD, so the goal is finding the amount your body handles. Here's the order I use: 1. Wait until your symptoms are steady at 0 to 2 out of 10. 2. Start with a few sips to a quarter cup, with breakfast. 3. Go up in three steps, with 24 hours between each one. 4. Skip high-stress days and keep the rest of your routine the same, so you can tell what caused what. Symptoms can show up to 4 hours after your cup. 5. Treat decaf the same way. It can stimulate stomach acid too. Your threshold is the most you can drink without disruptive symptoms. If a step brings them back, go back to the last amount that felt fine. The Reflux Clarity Log in the FLORA App tracks your food, symptoms, and habits so you can see the pattern. Your 7-day risk-free FLORA app trial is in my bio. 📚 Muftah et al., 2026, Clin Transl Gastroenterol, systematic review and meta-analysis, 40 studies, n=122,074: GERD in 34.9% of coffee drinkers vs 30.7% of nondrinkers (OR 1.18, 95% CI 1.03 to 1.36), which the authors called of unclear clinical significance, PMID 41677121. Cohen & Booth, 1975, N Engl J Med, dose-response study in healthy volunteers, regular and decaffeinated coffee both increased gastric acid secretion, PMID 1177987. #refluxtok #acidreflux #LPR #coffeeandreflux #refluxdietitian
