It’s euphemism. mostly used in online spaces to avoid being flagged. Words will always take multiple forms in different contexts. You don’t expect anyone to refer to that act as “gooning” in a a biology class, but it makes sense in a 14-year-olds group chat conversation. Idk why your that was your first example but whether or not it’s a “morally wrong” thing that has been “desensitized” is largely dependent on a number of factors from culture to history etc. what you’ve described is a case of evolution of words to adapt to corporate-backed censorship and it’s a perfectly normal reaction, soz 😞
