Honestly I feel like being the 2 mil to 100 mil guy is more impressive. That’s gotta be a much rarer skillset. Turning a moderately successful business into a potential billion dollar asset > just turning a potential billion dollar asset into a billion dollar asset.

This makes ZERO sense. 2m-200m is a 100x… 200m - 1b is a 5x…. He’s either lying or was left out of the conversation

i guess my take on this is, it doesn’t have to be that way. founders of google, fb, cursor, microsoft, etc etc all did just fine with those that started at ZERO and are the largest companies in the world. If you want to take and lead your people higher. Then you certainly can

That's why it's imperative that founders grow with their company. Each stage of the company requires a different kind of leadership and if you as a founder can make those transitions and evolve as an individual, your board would see no reason letting you off.

It goes like this: $10mm > $100mm > $1b. Very few can make it past $10mm in start up mode to the next level, much less in the $1b level up.

When I hear people talk about being detail oriented I know they don’t really know what they mean. Especially in this context running a billion dollar business means a massive amount of delegation, the details are 3 layers down.
