In marriage, both husband and wife have limits - that's what makes it work. In Islam, the concept isn't that one has limits and the other doesn't. It's that both have [rights and responsibilities]- _huqooq_. 1. The Quranic framework: Allah says: "And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy." [30:21] The goal is _sakinah_ - peace. 2. For the wife: Her limit is to guard the marriage, respect her husband's role as qawwam (protector/provider), and not overstep what Allah has made his responsibility. Her obedience is in what is good, not in sin. 3. For the husband: His limit is also very strict. He must provide, protect, be just, not oppress, not abuse his authority, and treat his wife with _ma'ruf_ - kindness. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of you are those who are best to their wives." So it's not one-sided. A woman who knows her limits in marriage is a woman who knows her deen - and the same is required of a man. If either side forgets their limit, the sakinah is lost...
