Who's the one up on the ladder at your house: your dad, or you? 👇 The bright beeps you hear in the audio represent the signals running down his spinal cord. BODY SIGNAL % is an illustration. 1️⃣ A fall from higher than your own height plus neck or back pain can mean a broken spine bone (Red Cross). 2️⃣ The spinal cord runs right behind those bones, carrying messages between the brain and the body (MedlinePlus). 3️⃣ Bending or lifting the head can make it worse, and a serious spine injury isn't always obvious at first (Mayo Clinic). Call 911. Hold the head the way you found it until help takes over. Only move them if they're in danger, throwing up (two people roll them as one piece) or need CPR. Keep them warm without moving the head or neck. US ERs, 2009-2018: about 20,450 ladder-fall head, face and neck fractures, 28% in the neck, average age 53 (J Emerg Med 2020).
