I cried when Aang found out his nation was gone. I Cried when Korra was in that wheelchair and got raavaa ripped out of her. Now I cried over this scene. The Avatar series has sad dark moments. It takes me through emotional roller coasters.

Bending is a recessive gene, it’s entirely plausible that Pavi and Nishas parents did not have bending of their own but instead carried the genetic, it could be reasonable to assume in this scene Pavi had not yet discovered her bending but Nisha had, which could be why they were abandoning her out there because they too grew up and were raised to believe the Avatar was a destroyed responsible for ending the world. They didn’t choose one twin over the other, while it might be wrong they probably thought leaving her to die alone out there would have been better than surrendering her or potentially having her tortured by people amidst blaming Korra for the cataclysm, a lot of people mentioned her parents being Earth Benders, however I don’t think so - if they were earth benders there’s no doubt together they’d have been able to stop that from crushing them or get out of its way, but it crushed them and Pavis leg likely meaning they could not bend and that they’re descendants of a bender which is how Pavi and Nisha inherited Earth as their native element. Now, with that in consideration, imagine how terrifying it would have been to learn your child is the reincarnation of whom you have been taught your whole life is the “destroyer”, I whole heartedly believe Pavi had not yet discovered her bending here or perhaps only her Earth bending had surfaced while Nisha probably had more like Korra did being so young.
