@ursavingrace81: I am a DSP/AFL provider I work with IDD for over 21 years. I’ve see this same behavior day by day what have worked for me is the weighted blanket and vest also is what I used before the injection. Invega injection is A game changer.

Please try using a weighted vest as soon as he gets dressed. He should wear it all day until bed time.

Do he likes music? My middle son used to break things. Someone told me that music is another method to calm autistic kids. So I started playing music & I noticed that music calms my son down. Thank God, he stopped breaking things.

My son changed when he hit puberty 😩. He became aggressive to the point he busted a window and had to go to the hospital to recieve stitches (even on the way to the hospital he was banging on my trucks window with blood all dripping all over his arm, at the hospital he was hitting walls. As soon as they put him on the stretcher 🫰 just like that he acted as if nothing happened. He would even sleep as well as he use to before puberty. Before puberty my son was so affectionate, all smiles just a happy kid, staff at his school called him sunshine. He punched a student in the stomach and the a social worker a few years ago. He hasn’t touched anyone since. I had to make the hard choice of finally putting him on medication, it just was to much for me. Not just the aggression but the sleep, I mean he would and every now and then would stay up let’s say 10:00 p.m till 5:00 a.m with a short sleep before then like 3 hours. Sometimes it’s as if his medication had no effect on him but most of the time it does.

if he can't talk, then he is frustrated. I get him. put yourself in his shoes, imagine not being able to talk when everyone else is, its frustrating. he is trying to say something or just expressing his feelings. Try to get him things he likes(Mine bits people when angry, but we give him his favorite chewy immediately he tries to. Most of the time he is hungry : very picky eater). Try centered based ABA, home based is good too but the RBTs cancel ALOT!

ABA and or behavior therapy i work with children on the spectrum as well as I have a child who is high functioning! unfortunately there is no one size fits all but it helps and consistency is SO HARD but needed! we use a token board at home and we work towards something like screen time and currently we have 5 tokens and if he is acting aggressive he is told nice hands or calm breathing and if he self adjusts he gets a token as soon as he gets all 5 he gets whatever he worked for

Big beanbag chair it’s like a crash pad so they can throw themselves on it when they are mad and not get hurt. Also might get a punching bag and maybe some boxing gloves and show him how to hit it and show him how he can beat that thing up instead of the walls. 😩❤️Make it like a game so when you are “mad” go and punch the bag and who knows it could catch on. 🤷‍♀️

Please possibly pad the room. I wouldn’t want him to kick a stud behind the wall. That would be serious. Keep discussing your concerns with his physicians. That’s a lot. Would they qualify for a morning care attendant qualified with autism to assist you? Just curious.

I try to always redirect him , so when he’s in the middle of a fit i just kinda hug him , and try to show him these sensory sticks , their honestly the best sensory toy for redirecting , they are great maybe you can try those i bought them off the TikTok shop they colorful comes in 8 packs different textures . I hope it works for your boys 🩷 sending hugs , trust me some days i feel defeated but i give myself a pep talk , no one is going to deal w your kids the way you do , god placed them in your life cause he trusted you to handle it . You’re doing amazing

My daughter is 13 yrs old and we use a vibration board. It really helps with those types of behaviors. It helps to regulate her.

Hey mamas my son is eight years old and what I do when he’s manic I ignored the behavior. I give him verbal warnings of things that I will be taking from him if he continues to behavior.. after he calms down I have a conversation with him and take away what I stated I was going to take away. Yes, at first he had big meltdown because I took the thing away however, overtime he understood if I do this she’s gonna take this so now once I tell him, he changes the behavior because he does not want to lose either his iPad, TV time, etc..

I'm curious...does he only behave in this manner when he's with you? or does it span outside of the home like at school

You are a phenomenal mom. Try redirecting to do something, try a timer, try first and then (stop kicking and spitting then you can get some popcorn etc,.)

Sports if available. Confused and frustrated because hormones are communicators and he can’t like a lot of males express generate new confusing energy. Do you have in home support services respite in your state? In my daycare/fosterhome/assisted living I had to wear my males from 9-27 years old out physically then redirect with work, games (physical and tech as some had 62 IQ range) and social integration parks, malls, events. I was in Texas then so the bipolar weather worked for me. I had to use reward motivated guidance with most my males.

this your time to love with your mind and not your heart. they are going to become more bigger and stronger, they do not see the world as others do ,you must find in your heart to do the right time ,even though he may not end up harming you ,he can very well bring harm to his brothers and mor evenly to himself. mom may God be with you and your family.
