I remember watching it was my family in Australia. We’re not American but my niece’s grandfather, grandmother and mother are Chilean and have family living in LA. I remember watching and being so hopeful, no one was happy when it was called.

what gets me is everyone saying how they woke up... I hadn't gone to sleep. I remember sitting there on my couch in just disbelief and horror. I walked into each one of my kids rooms and looked at them sleeping and I sobbed.

I remember driving to work the next morning feeling so defeated. People called us dramatic…but being the daughter of immigrant parents had me fearing for their lives. As a woman, I have never felt such a slap to the face as I did that night.
