@blue_ink_finance: Fibonacci Trading: Real Edge or Just an Illusion? Millions of traders use Fibonacci retracement levels to predict market reversals. But do the famous 38.2% and 61.8% levels actually work? We investigate the mathematics behind Fibonacci, its connection to nature, and whether financial markets really respect these mysterious ratios. THE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE: A 2022 study published in Expert Systems with Applications examined Fibonacci retracements across three major equity markets: the Dow Jones, NASDAQ and DAX. The researchers found that prices were not statistically more likely to bounce at Fibonacci levels than at comparable non-Fibonacci levels. Their Fibonacci-based strategy also failed to outperform the benchmarks. However, another 2022 study published in Financial Innovation found more favourable results for certain energy stocks, showing that the evidence is not unanimous. SOURCES & RESEARCH: Tsinaslanidis, Guijarro & Voukelatos (2022) — Automatic Identification and Evaluation of Fibonacci Retracements: Empirical Evidence from Three Equity Markets. The question isn't whether Fibonacci is mathematical. It is whether it gives traders a measurable advantage. Never confuse a pattern you can draw with an edge you can prove.
