the hottest new thai restaurant in london right now, run by ex-KILN head chef karla knowles and just opened for soft launch last week, AND they are currently running 50% off the food menu for soft launch!! KILN is one of the best wood-fired thai restaurants in london and we loved it a lot, so when PAM opened we had to check it out! here’s everything we ordered: fried red curry sticky rice balls - THE dish if you love the crust at the bottom of a claypot rice, chewy, crispy and a bit sticky to your teeth grilled turmeric chicken thigh - similar to the one in KILN but i wish it was served right off the grill miang kham - my personal fav in the starter section, love the different textures mixed together and everything goes so well with the betel leaf roasted duck breast with red curry and fries - star of the show!! the red curry tasted amazing, thick and rich with texture to it, a bit like massaman, and the duck breast’s very tender. goes surprisingly well with the fries too. must-order! slow grilled plaice with green tomato relish - love this dish too, it’s a remake of the traditional thai grilled fish (pla pao), the plaice is a lot thinner but was cooked perfectly, so tender and meaty paired with the green tomato relish, though i wish there could be more sauce PAM is still on soft launch and i feel like they are still finding their rhythm, the pacing of the dishes wasn’t managed very well so it was quite a long wait for the mains. overall the dishes are very decent but it’s more modern european bistro with thai flavours rather than the wood-fire grill style of KILN. i personally love KILN more still but we’d also need to give them time to settle in. also no desserts yet, let’s hope it’d be ready some time!! having said that the space was massive and super cool, industrial style with soaring ceilings, an open kitchen and a long concrete leaning table. a cafe & gelato bar is coming in the new year too! the vibes amazing though i personally found the space a bit too loud for me to carry conversations. and for the soft launch period until 31 oct there’s 50% off!!! #kiln #londonnewrestaurants #pamrestaurant #londonthai #londonthairestaurant
