Father God, if this dad is asking himself, “Why did I bring my son here?” please ease the guilt weighing on his heart. Remind him that he brought his child to the United States out of love, with hopes for a better future. His decision to seek a better life for his son does not make this tragedy his fault. Lord, comfort this mother across the distance. Surround both parents with people who will pray with them, listen to them, and help carry them through the days ahead. When they have no words left, hear their tears. When they have no strength left, sustain them. Bring truth, justice, and peace. May their precious son rest in Your loving care.
