@cinemaoccupy: 'Godzilla Minus Zero' is the first Godzilla film rated R. The MPA rated Takashi Yamazaki's sequel R for 'some violent content/bloody images,' a first for a franchise that began in 1954. 'Godzilla Minus One' was rated PG-13. Yamazaki told Variety that cutting those scenes 'was just not an option' for him as a director. Toho releases the film in Japan on Tuesday, November 3, and GKIDS opens it across North America on Friday, November 6. It premiered as the Spotlight Gala at the New York Film Festival on September 26. It is also the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX. It follows 'Godzilla Minus One,' which earned more than $116 million worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards. Film at Lincoln Center calls it the third highest grossing live action foreign-language film in U.S. box office history. Yamazaki returns as writer and director, and Ryunosuke Kamiki returns from the first film. Are you seeing it in IMAX on opening weekend?
