standard time is better for our biological internal clocks and start for students commuting in the morning especially in winter. if we kept daylight time, the sun wouldn't rise till about 9am ish

I don't know what you guys are. so insane about. standard time is closer to our actual circadian rhythm, and when we're on standard time it feels good. "Wahhhhh, it gets dark earlier," we have lights! turn on a light!
