I completely agree. I think we’ve attached a strange moral value to struggle, as though working harder, being busier and earning more somehow makes us more worthy. We’ve been conditioned to believe that if we just work hard enough and accumulate enough wealth, happiness will follow. But I think that pursuit has become pretty destructive, often at the expense of our communities, relationships and the world around us. Maybe we need to make our worlds smaller, let go of the constant striving and remember that so much of what makes life rich is actually very simple: good friends, good food, time, nature and appreciating the beauty around us.
