As an active type 1 that’s had my BG drop from 98 to 40’s within minutes even with a t-slim, dexcom G7, and eating before, you did the right thing, better safe than sorry

Y’all are missing the “and DROPPING” That she said AFTER it was 98. If she would have waited even five more minutes, his blood sugar could have been in the low 70’s or 60’s. I’m hypoglycemic and MY body does this, too. What she did was correct. For a NORMAL person, 98 and STABLE is good! For someone who’s hypoglycemic and keeps DROPPING it can be very dangerous.

I’m a type 1 diabetic and 98 is not fine for me either. Once I’m below 100, it drops so fast and then I can barely think for myself

i think we are forgetting the detail that it was still dropping. not balancing itself out. she wanted to make sure that he didn’t bottom out bc it could happen instantly

Look. Idk why you keep getting offended by people correcting you but 98 is a completely normal blood sugar. I feel I am qualified to speak on this as I am type 1 diabetic. If he has a pump, just put it in activity or sports mode before recess

98 is literally a perfect number. An entire Gatorade is a way over correction for a normal bg that’s dropping. He could have just suspended his insulin for a bit until it leveled out.

98 is a good number, mine was at 94. Aslong as it doesn’t go below 80. My blood sugar fluctuates highs and low. So, if it’s in the 90s leave it alone, he doesn’t need sugar, it will eventually go up. I went from a 94 to 180 without eating or drinking.
