I keep trying to educate everyone, more people have D.I.D then people who have schizophrenia. I think this “rare” come from the fact that in the past not a lot of professionals knew how to diagnose and treat D.I.D however now we know more so we are seeing it more. I hope this makes sense I’m not good about explaining things sometimes.

DID alone has a higher prevalence than Schizophrenia in the general population. Sadly due to the stigma and discrimination even with diagnosis many systems choose to stay covert.

I deeply appreciate your passion about this. I have OSDD and I’m so scared to share it with people, even close friends, because I’ve been so chronically invalidated throughout my life and I frequently see comments saying “I don’t believe it’s true.” And yes, I am very good at masking.

my therapist knew the day we met but waited for me to figure it out 3 years later to tell me. I had been freaking out thinking I was going crazy and told her about rapid switching and how I was crying in the mirror because I didn't recognize myself and her eyes LIT UP. she was like omg FINALLY and then explained it to me and started telling me about my 2 other alters. apparently we have different faces? I dont think ill ever understand that one though lol

people don't realize that a diagnosis is a privilege. and it may not be safe for suspecting systems to get a diagnosis.

I will never understand the cognitive dissonance required to acknowledge things like war (which we in the US are largely responsible for) happening right now currently and then in the same breath argue it’s a statistical improbability that “that many children” exist in a state of perceived inescapable perpetual trauma. I really think people like this think DID has a secret diagnostic criteria that includes hyper specific events and sincerely don’t fathom that “trauma” doesn’t mean 1 special secret thing
