@emperorhistorian1: Which century saw the most drastic change? Well the answer will surprise you. It’s the 7th century in Middle Ages in the lands of the Roman Empire in the city of Jerusalem. The eastern Roman Empire fought an apocalyptic war against the Sassanian Persian empire. And it all ended with the rise of a new religion and a new empire. In less than 40 years you’d have seen more change than anyone else in history as battles waged and legions fell during the end of antiquity and the medieval age #romanempire #HistoryTime #conquest #crusader #historytok
I agree and possibly the 20th century with after World War I Ottoman Empire collapse Iraq formed, Austria/Hungary, Iraq then after World War II Palestine/Israel, etc., etc. first airplane to landing on the moon.

I think if you were born in 1800 and died in 1900 you would have seen incredible changes due to industrialisation. The railways would have been life changing as would electricity.

It's easily the 20th century. WW1, WW2 and the cold war; fall of the German, Austrian, Russian, Chinese, ottoman and all of the various colonial empires; the end of formal empires as a whole. Rise and fall of the soviet union and Japan and the rise of the US as the greatest superpower in history as well as the resurgence of China after 100 years. So many newly formed countries as well as a massive increase in atheism, technology, healthcare, life expectancy etc. The only thing that might match the 20th century is if WW3 happens this century and ends everything.

Fantastic answer to the question. But if thought about the most radically transformative and disruptive time in a single generation I would go with Russia from 1920 to 1940. From a backwards, rural, agricultural society to a highly centralised, industrial war focused one with very little time in between!

The sassanians were very clearly anti-christian especially within its permanent borders. Roman conquered territories were only allowed to be “peacefully Christian” because it wouldn’t be possible to rule those lands while trying to change the entire religion of the people while fighting Rome. The Muslim conquest of Persia were famously celebrated by the Persian Christians since they were Also given protection and the right to practice their religion under the rashidun caliphate as opposed to the Zoroastrian sassanians. The Muslims were Also celebrated in egypt since the coptic Christians followed the theology and traditions of the earliest Christians which didn’t believe in the trinity. Rome actively persecuted them until the Muslims liberated them

maybe if you lived in Jerusalem??? but in any case, it's obviously the 20th century. look at 1900 and 1999. completely different worlds. different universes, really. and this is true absolutely everywhere, not just one city. no where on Earth were the enormous changes of the 20th century not felt

it's probably the 20th century, my grand uncle went from wood fired stoves, gas lamps and horse drawn carriage and newspapers to airplanes, cable TV and the internet. Now that I think about it the development of our province was really slow because for 17 years in the 20th century I experienced horse drawn carriage turn to motorcycle tuktuks, I listened to radio dramas then watched the premiere of power rangers.
