I remember basically nothing from my childhood. I know it can be a trauma response but i dont recall anything that traumatic happening... would be nice to find out what the issue is

Do you have ADHD? I ask because our brains have a different “filing system”. Music, smells, sounds, a specific phrase, etc. trigger a memory. I can’t remember much of my life if I’m just sitting here thinking about it but the minute I smell honeysuckle I’m 7 again playing in the back garden at my Grandma and Papa’s. If I hear Pearl Jam’s Jeremy I’m back in HS.

I was told what to do, how I should act, and feel most of my life. I feel i dont have the memories because I didnt live it for myself, but to do as I was told and please others.

I literally can't remember more than a few years ago and I only remember big events. It's crazy how many things other people tell me and I can't remember at all.

For me, I have these memories of things, and I cannot tell whether they actually happened or whether I just think they happened. The memory is there, but I cannot trust whether it is real. And sometimes I am pretty sure it is not real, but I cannot explain why I have the memory in the first place. It is frustrating because I cannot remember, and when I do, I cannot even tell if I am remembering it correctly.
