@japdmedia26: WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES — A recorded telephone conversation has raised serious questions about the prosecution of two former FBI officials, following testimony involving U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro and her legal team. According to NBC News, Carlton Davis, a senior aide in Pirro’s office, acknowledged a mistake during a telephone conversation with House Judiciary Committee general counsel Steve Castor. FBI Special Agent Bryan Witt testified that Davis said, "this is our f--- up," during the call. Pirro also reportedly joined the conversation. The problem involved a sworn affidavit used to support charges against former FBI officials Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides. The affidavit incorrectly indicated that Castor had attended both officials' congressional testimonies. Witt acknowledged that Castor had only attended Benavides' testimony. This raised questions about the accuracy of important information presented in the original case. The two former officials were charged in October 2026 with allegedly making false statements to Congress about their knowledge of FBI investigations involving Hunter Biden's laptop. The case also drew attention to FBI Director Kash Patel's involvement. Witt testified that Patel directed the investigation in July and that senior FBI officials regularly received updates about its progress. Witt also revealed his concerns about the assignment, stating, "I had concerns that this would be viewed as political." The controversy intensified after prosecutors attempted to submit an amended complaint containing additional allegations without the required judicial approval. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui rejected that filing and ordered it removed from the court record. However, the original criminal complaint was not automatically dismissed. The three-day preliminary hearing ended on Thursday, October 29. The judge said he would issue a written decision on Monday, November 2, concerning whether the original case can proceed. The developments have raised important questions about prosecutorial procedures, the reliability of evidence and possible political influence in federal investigations. Important: Floris and Benavides remain entitled to the presumption of innocence. The allegations against them have not been proven in court. #WashingtonDC #USA #PirroDavisFlorisBenavidesWittPatelCastorFaruquiTrumpBiden #FBI #japd
