@chronically_stephie: Let me be REALLY clear from the offset - I don’t for one second doubt the difficulty and challenge of going through natural menopause. This post isn’t intended to diminish or undermine anyone’s experience that differs to mine. It is abundantly clear that all aspects of women’s health care is under funded, under researched and quite frankly, not to the standard it should be 😡 The impact of surgical menopause isn’t something I’d wish on anyone. I completely lost myself and am still picking up the pieces now. The approach is clinical - a final attempt to try and resolve a medical issue. However, it creates a whole new set of issues that stay with you forever. And that’s the thing no one tells you about, neither before you consent to this life changing decision or after. This HAS to change 😢 It's only thanks to the community of peer support I found online; who understand the devastating impact on life post surgery, that I've been able to get through the last 2 years and advocate for the care I need from healthcare practitioners. The lack of basic understanding of how DIFFERENT natural and surgical menopause are is astounding. This also HAS to change. I could write pages and pages on this topic but I’ll leave it here for today.
