@theargentgroup: A San Francisco robotics startup called Dimensional is paying people $20 an hour to walk robot dogs through city streets and help improve their artificial intelligence. Workers guide the four-legged robots along outdoor routes for four to six hours per shift. No previous robotics experience is required, and the company provides paid training. The robots weigh around 33 pounds (15 kg). If one overheats or stops working, the worker may have to carry it back to the company's office. The robot dogs are made by China's Unitree Robotics and cost around $2,000 each, according to UPI. Dimensional founder Stash Pomichter said the company found that its AI still struggles to control physical robots reliably. Human operators guide the machines while their cameras and sensors collect information about streets, people and obstacles. The company plans to use this information to improve its robots so they can eventually perform more tasks without human help. Source: UPI, October 28, 2026; The New York Times, October 27, 2026.
