It’s crazy how something so simple can mean so much to somebody who’s been alone for so long. I think that’s what people don’t understand. It’s not always about wanting a relationship. Sometimes you just miss having somebody who genuinely wants you around. Somebody who checks on you, wants to hear about your day, or just wants to be next to you. I’ve spent so many years doing everything alone that I honestly don’t even know how to let somebody into my life anymore. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with dating again. And the sad part is, I have so much love to give, but I’m terrified of giving it to the wrong person again. People tell me the right one will come along, and maybe they’re right, but after being alone for so long, you start questioning whether that’ll ever happen. I don’t need somebody to fix me or save me. I just wanna know what it feels like to be somebody’s first choice for once. To have somebody who stays, even on the days when I’m not the easiest person to understand. Because I’ve learned how to be alone. What I haven’t learned is how to stop wishing I wasn’t.
