@usct.sf: Sutter Drops $1 Billion Emeryville Hospital Plan. Sutter Health has abandoned plans for a $1 billion, 200-bed hospital in Emeryville that it had hoped to open in 2033. The facility was meant to replace its 300-bed Alta Bates hospital in Berkeley, which Sutter says must close by 2030 to avoid state-required earthquake safety upgrades. Sutter cited uncertainty around environmental review. It says Alta Bates patient care will not change immediately, while it seeks legislation to keep the campus open during planning and construction of a replacement. Sutter now plans outpatient centers at the Emeryville site and a hospital elsewhere in the East Bay. #Emeryville #Berkeley #EastBay #SutterHealth #AltaBates
they spent a TON of money for like 25+ acres in Dublin in July so I'm guessing that's where the next big East Bay Sutter hospital will be! It would complement their growing outpatient footprint there 😁
