@earthpulse1111: Yellowstone isn't the only supervolcano in the western United States. 😲 Hidden in the mountains of northern New Mexico is one of the largest volcanic calderas on Earth. This is Valles Caldera, a massive volcanic depression formed about 1.23 million years ago during a cataclysmic eruption that blasted hundreds of cubic miles of ash and volcanic debris across what is now the American Southwest. As the enormous magma chamber emptied, the ground collapsed, creating a basin roughly 13.7 miles (22 km) wide. The eruption was one of the largest volcanic events in North American history. Rising from the middle of the caldera is Redondo Peak, an 11,254-foot (3,430 m) resurgent lava dome created as magma slowly pushed the collapsed ground back upward. Despite its age, Valles Caldera is far from extinct. Hot springs, fumaroles, earthquake swarms, and ongoing geothermal activity all point to a large magma system that still exists beneath the caldera today. Its last significant eruption occurred roughly 70,000 years ago—recent by geologic standards. While Yellowstone receives most of the attention, Valles Caldera is one of the largest and most fascinating active volcanic systems in the western United States. It may be quieter than Yellowstone, but it is still very much alive. Source: Wikipedia

Valles is a really amazing place! Not to far north is another, larger, ancient caldera with a resurgent dome: Cochetopa Caldera.
